| One Dad's journey into Parenthood |
 |
David and Jennifer became the parents of twins Nathan and Rachael in April, 2004. This delightful couple were in our Multiple Birth Prenatal Classes. David began writing me about his children. His joy and pride are very evident in his charming telling of their birth and the days following. Please read on for one Dad's journey into Parenthood.
20th June, 2004
The family had a wonderful Father's Day get together today at my Dad's (as the twins are the first grandchildren--everyone is ecstatic!!!).
By the way, the babies will be one month old tomorrow!! Both are doing extremely well. At birth our son Nathan was 4lbs 6oz and our daughter Rachael was 4lbs 9oz. At the lactation consultant appointment we had this past Wednesday, Nathan weighed in at a whopping 6lbs 10oz and his sister was 6lbs 8.5oz! Needless to say, they're growing well.
As I'm sure you can imagine, we're still quite tired. We've recently moved from waking the babies every three hours for a feed to having them queue us (which still works out to be every 3-4 hours). Nathan had also recently decided that he quite likes a nocturnal lifestyle and is often glad to be wide awake and inconsolable from about midnight till 4am or so! I'm sure glad Jen and I have a good sense of humour!
I'm going back to work on the 5th of July (its been great to have the past 6 weeks off) and we are in the process of trying to find someone to give us a hand for 4-5 hours a day from Monday to Friday. She's definitely going to need some help during the day. We've tried quite a few leads and are going to try some of the staffing agencies this week. I guess we're essentially looking for something like a personal care worker--not quite a nanny but someone to give us general purpose support around the house. If you know of someone or have any suggestions, your input would be most appreciated.
All best wishes,
David, Jennifer, Nathan and Rachael |
