| Each year in Canada over 4,000 sets of twins and 75 sets of triplets, quadruplets and quintuplets combined are born (Multiple Births Canada's Facts & Figures Fact Sheet, 1998). Some professionals have called the recent rise in multiple births "an epidemic." With the rise in multiple births, unfortunately, there will also be losses.
