what do you do when there are 3?????
From Lynda:
If you want to breastfeed triplets, it is possible but both you and your partner need to make conscious decisions to that end. Keep your stress levels low, watch your nutrition and fluid levels, breastfeed often (supply and demand). Your breasts will adjust to the demand but it may take a few days or weeks to get your supply up. You might need to supplement a wee bit after a feed, particularly for the third baby. Put each baby to the breast each feed, regardless. Ideally the feed times are one baby at a breast, 10 minutes each, then the third baby at each breast 5 minutes each breast - all at the same time. At the next feed, the third baby will be one of the first to breastfeed, i.e. rotate the babies.
Check in with your local support Chapter and ask to be put in touch with breastfeeding triplet Moms. Check with La Leche League (they have a wonderful book - Breastfeeding Twins and More by a Karen Gromada - a terrific resource) and MOST (Mothers of Super Twins) in the US - all of whom can provide you with support information.
